The official Italian and US listings confirm LEGO® Technic 42254 Solar System Planets in Orbit: 572 pieces, ages 10+ and release on 1 January 2027.
A hand crank drives the gears, moving all eight planets around the Sun at different speeds. Each planet has an information panel; the planets can be realigned by hand.
For Technic fans interested in mechanics, the appeal is clear: movement is the focus of the model, with an educational purpose.
Update, 2 November: the official Italian listing now confirms the name Pianeti del sistema solare in orbita and a price of €99.99. Release remains scheduled for 1 January 2027; the US price is US$99.99.
