At Tank Shanghai on the West Bund, the LEGO® Bloom Exhibition takes Botanicals beyond the home: more than 380,000 LEGO® Botanicals elements form a 30-metre wave covering around 800 m², appearing to spill from a former industrial oil tank.
Updated 23 October 2026. The new LEGO® release specifies that 380,000 refers to Botanicals elements, not complete flowers. More than 229,000 visitors have attended since the 1 October opening. We have corrected the figure reported in the original article.
From flowers to an installation
The exhibition includes 18 artist collaborations, immersive 360-degree screens and activities where visitors build flowers and add them to a digital landscape. Shanghai International Light Festival projections accompany the event from 28 September to 7 October.
The exhibition runs until 29 October 2026, confirmed by the city’s official events calendar.
For AFOLs, the interest lies in the change of scale: models normally displayed on a table become part of an urban landscape. The contrast with the industrial architecture gives this approach a distinctive identity.
